Geriatric massage is a gentle manual manipulation of the soft tissues to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and increase range of motion. This specialty requires techniques specific for aging skin and muscles. Our therapists have that skillset! We are also trained in assisting elder clients on and off of the table, as well as, positioning elder clients on the table. Prior to the treatment, the therapists will extensively review the client’s chart looking for contraindications or comorbidities that would require additional attention (such as cardiac or respiratory conditions). The therapist may also need to consult with other practitioners on the client’s healthcare team to become aware of any problems that may be encountered during the massage.
