KINESIOLOGY TAPING

Clinical Massage Care offers Kinesiology Taping

A chiropractor named Dr. Kenso Kase, DC developed kinesiology tape in the 1970’s. He found that using a flexible tape that mobilized the interface between the skin and the muscles could provide long-lasting effects for his patients. He developed many of the techniques used in kinesiology taping today. As science, technology, and research continued to develop, many brands, methods, and techniques were clinically studied and implemented in rehabilitation and therapy practices.

Kinesiology taping is a treatment modality that involves placing medical-grade, water-resistant, adhesive tape strips on a body area in a specific direction. It is combined with other manual therapy techniques to assist in providing musculoskeletal support, improve circulation, reduce pain, and improve functional mobility in your muscles, joints, and tendons.

When the tape is strategically applied, it creates a microscopic space between your skin and the tissues underneath it, recoiling slightly and gently lifting the skin. The tape’s durable design allows it to stay on through daily activities such as working, exercising, and showering for about 3 to 5 days.

During your initial assessment, your therapist may discuss with you the benefits of kinesiology taping to see if it is a right fit for your customized plan of care.
